okay, here I am. In a quiet warehouse looking at a keyboard hoping that something incredible will come out of my fingertips and onto the screen......nothing yet.
we received some coffee today from India. Our friends at Elan Organic are trying to hook us up with some coffee to take the place of the Balmaadi Estate coffee that we've grown to love. We had ordered 100 bags of the Balmaadi. alas, only four bags are coming to the U.S. we snagged them. but what a disappointment. They are afloat now and will be in the states in late July.

"...buying organic, shade-tree, bird friendly coffee is an everyday act of mindful consumerism that can actually make a difference for both biodiversity and poor peasant farmers..."Editorial: The New York Times (July 5, 1999 page A15)
We try our best to offer very special, even rare coffees that we can only get once in a while. If these coffees do not carry a certification, we are carrying the coffee because it is still sustainably grown, the farms are using environmentally sound farming methods, and/or they are socially responsible, either the farmer is getting more money for his/her crop than they would get via normal trade or the money from the sale of that coffee is going towards a social program in the country of origin.
